Today, around 9:00 a.m, the Leader of the House, Hon. Adedoyin Adeyefa, alongside six others, arrived at the Legislative Hall of Owo Local Government in ondo state to announce the suspension of the Executive Chairman, Hon. Tope Omolayo.
The announcement was described by many as a legal and kangaroo declaration, as the majority of the councillors were not informed or carried along in the process while some argued that the Chairman, Hon Tope Omolayo was involved in fund mismanagement and working outside the budget.
Among the councillors who were present at the Legislative Hall were:
Hon. Afolabi Ismaila – Ehin Ogbe Ward 1
Hon. Afolabi Folusho – Isaipen Ward 8
Hon. Oguntolu Olumide – Ipele Ward 7
Hon. Agbede Olanike – Ijebu I Ward 4
Hon. Jimoh Tolani – Upenmen/Idasen/Obasooto Ward 9
Hon. Adekanmbi Aliu – Igboroko I Ward 2
It was gathered that the Executive Chairman, Hon. Tope Omolayo, was not aware of the action and did not receive any prior notice regarding the announcement.
Following this development, the main entrance gate of the secretariat was temporarily closed as the workers stood firm in their position, emphasizing that the chairman remains their legitimate leader and that due process must be respected at all times.
