Wike’s Aide Mocks Dino Melaye, Calls Him ‘Former Blind Man and Tree Climber’

Lere Olayinka, media aide to Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), has ridiculed former Kogi West Senator Dino Melaye for expressing regret over his support in bringing the All Progressives Congress (APC) into power.

Olayinka characterized Melaye as someone who once lacked vision and had a history of climbing trees, noting that he chose not to cast his vote in a governorship election where he was one of the candidates.

During an appearance on Channels Television's "Politics Today," a leader from the African Democratic Congress (ADC) expressed regret over previously supporting the APC, stating, "I was blind then; now I can see."

In 2015, the former Senator representing Kogi West switched allegiance to the APC. However, after months of political conflict with Yahaya Bello, the then-governor of Kogi State, he rejoined the PDP as preparations for the 2019 elections began.

However, Melaye maintained that Nigeria is presently in a precarious situation under the leadership of the APC government.

In response, Olayinka shared on X: “Dino Melaye ‘I regret supporting APC. I was blind then; now I can see.’”

"ME: Good evening to you, Dino Melaye, the former blind man and tree climber."

"Was it your blindness that caused you not to vote in the governorship election? How can someone stay home creating social media content instead of voting on their own election day?"
