Super Eagles forward Victor Boniface has shared a lighthearted and proud moment involving fellow Nigerian star Victor Osimhen, revealing just how popular the Napoli striker is in Turkey.
In a story he recounted with a smile, Boniface said he was at an airport in Turkey when two strangers became visibly excited upon seeing his Nigerian passport.
“I was just trying to buy something when two guys noticed from my passport that I’m Nigerian,” Boniface recalled.
“They immediately asked me, ‘Do you know Osimhen?’ I laughed and said, ‘No.’ They quickly Googled him and started showing me his photo, saying, ‘He’s a football player!’”
Boniface, known for his playful nature, decided to take it a step further.
“With a smile in my mind, I picked up my phone and called Victor Osimhen—and they actually got to speak with him! They were shocked that I know him and were unbelievably excited to talk to him.”
The Bayer Leverkusen star ended by expressing pride in how loved Nigerian players are across the world.
“Turkish people are really crazy about Osimhen. They love him so much. Moments like this make me proud to be Nigerian.”
