President Donald J. Trump announced today that he has ordered two U.S. nuclear submarines to strategic positions following “highly provocative” remarks from Dmitry Medvedev, former President of Russia and current Deputy Chairman of the Russian Security Council.
Trump warned that Medvedev’s “foolish and inflammatory” statements could lead to unintended consequences, stressing that words carry weight in international relations.
This move signals a major escalation in U.S.-Russia tensions as the world watches closely.
Dmitry Medvedev accused Trump of playing a “game of ultimatums,” warning that each ultimatum was a threat and a step toward war, not just between Russia and Ukraine, but with the United States itself. He sarcastically advised Trump not to follow “Sleepy Joe’s path,” implying Biden’s policies were weak, and suggested that Trump’s threats of sanctions and tariffs were pushing the U.S. closer to conflict with Russia.
"Words are very important, and can often lead to unintended consequences." said the President.
