Rivers: “There’ll Be Trouble Because Gov Is Returning Whether You Like It or Not” - King

As Rivers State gears up for local government elections, political tensions are rising. Higher King, a prominent local figure, has warned that problems are imminent.

Speaking to News Central TV, King criticized the Rivers State Independent Electoral Commission (RSIEC) for abruptly scheduling elections after a four-month suspension, calling it a clear political move.

King argued that rushing the elections now is unfair and risky, especially since the governor is expected back on September 18.

He fears elections held before the governor’s return could install local chairmen who oppose his leadership.

“There’ll be trouble because the governor is coming back, whether you like it or not,” King said. “You’ll end up with chairmen who won’t obey him, just like last time.”

He also dismissed recent peace talks as ineffective, warning that the crisis in the state remains unresolved and new conflicts may arise if the situation isn’t properly managed.
