According to his lawyer, Moussa Mara's trial for allegedly undermining the state's credibility has been set for September 29.

Shortly after Mara was questioned by a judicial cybercrimes unit, the charges were announced.
In July, he was repeatedly summoned for questioning regarding a social media post in which he expressed support for government critics who have been imprisoned.
Since the military regained control in 2020, human rights organizations have expressed concern over the diminishing democratic space in Mali.
The junta in the country has prohibited political parties and detained activists to suppress criticism regarding its human rights record, its management of the conflict against Islamist militants, and demands for elections.
Mara held the position of Mali's prime minister for nine months in 2015.
He has been outspoken in his criticism of the military government.
