Troops from the 7 Division, Sector 1 of Operation Hadin Kai have delivered another setback to Boko Haram by launching assaults on their strongholds in Tangalanga and Bula Marwa, both located in Borno State.
Based on information gathered by Zagazola Makama from military insiders acquainted with the mission, the operation was carried out on Sunday, July 7. This followed "credible intelligence reports suggesting terrorist elements were present and active in that area."
Acting swiftly on the intelligence received, the troops first advanced into Tangalanga where they encountered an attack. However, they quickly retaliated and eliminated two insurgents in the confrontation. The team continued their operations beyond this point.
"The team advanced towards Bula Marwa after obtaining intelligence about the gathering of terrorists in the area," according to sources.
As the soldiers neared their second target, Bula Marwa, reports indicate that the insurgents attempted to escape by fleeing into the surrounding terrain. However, their retreat was not completely successful.
"A source confirmed that while pursuing, one fleeing insurgent was neutralized and several special structures within the camp were destroyed."
Despite the tense situation and armed confrontation, reports indicate that the troops successfully completed their mission without any casualties on their side. This serves as a significant morale boost for the ongoing counterinsurgency efforts in the region.
Key items recovered from the operation included six AK-47 magazines, 90 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition, and a Boko Haram flag.
