Police Arrest Armed Robbery Suspect, Recover Stolen Items


The Abia State Police Command has apprehended a 26-year-old suspect, Chukwujekwu Uzoedo, from Uduma Ezinnachi, Okigwe, Imo State, in connection with criminal conspiracy and armed robbery targeting students of Abia State University, Uturu, and other residents.

According to a statement by DSP Maureen Chinaka, the command’s Public Relations Officer, on behalf of Commissioner of Police Danladi Isa, the suspect had been on the run for over a week before his arrest on July 23, 2025, at approximately 9:40 AM. Operatives from the Uturu Divisional Headquarters, acting on credible intelligence, tracked and apprehended Uzoedo at his hideout in Abia State.

Items recovered from the suspect include one HP laptop, one Tecno Android phone, one Tecno POP 5, one Itel Android phone, one Infinix Android phone, one iPhone 16, one black Earpod, one white Earpod, and a motorcycle.

The arrest follows a July 17, 2025, press release detailing the apprehension of four other suspects involved in the same robbery spree. Uzoedo was identified as a fleeing accomplice. During interrogation, he confessed to his involvement in the crimes. The police are continuing investigations to apprehend other suspects still at large.
