Ondo North Senatorial Deserve A Better Leadership In The Senate

 Part II

By: Idowu Matthew Oluwanifemi
For over 10 hours now, our senatorial district, Ondo North Senatorial District which includes Owo local government, Ose local government, Akoko north East local government, Akoko South-East local government, Akoko Northwest local government and Akoko South South local government been trending online—not for good reasons, but due to negative portrayals that depict us as a community of uninformed individuals. A liaison officer of Senator Jide Ipinsagba Mr Awe Tunbosun resigned as the liaison officer to Senator Jide Ipinsagba. For clarity, Mr Awe Tunbosun his from Ifesowapo ward 2 in Akoko North East local government. Mr Awe resigned because of the poor salary the senator had been paying him for over two years. He said that's Senator Jide Ipinsagba is paying him twenty thousand (20k) as a monthly stipent despite working daily as a liaison officer. This unfortunate even highlights a shocking reality, our senator is rewarding his aides with a mere twenty thousand naira (₦20,000) as their monthly stipend, despite their role as representatives and mouthpieces for the community.

To shed more light on the role of a liaison officer to the senator, it is crucial to understand that they serve as a vital communication link between the senator and various stakeholders, including constituents, government agencies, and organizations. They represent the senator in many capacities and are often referred to as "Honourable" by the public. However, it is disheartening to think that a position of such significance is compensated with only ₦20,000 monthly in a Nigeria where the cost of living is skyrocketing—one megabyte of data(1G) can cost over a thousand naira in just one day. This is truly shameful.

It pains me to see our senatorial district trending on platforms like Sahara Reporters News due to the lack of impactful leadership. While some individuals sing praises of Senator Jide Ipinsagba, the reality is that many of his aides and media personnel are struggling to make ends meet. Ondo North Senatorial District remains underdeveloped, primarily because we have a wealthy senator who has failed to create meaningful change. For the past two years, Senator Jide Ipinsagba has not fulfilled his responsibilities to our people. Even the town he hails from remains underdeveloped despite his billionaire status before taking office. If a man of his calibre can only think to offer his aides ₦20,000 while other senators like Jimoh Ibrahim are making significant contributions to their people and communities, it raises serious concerns.

This situation serves as a clarion call for our senatorial district. we deserve better representation than a billionaire who has failed to deliver tangible results. As we approach the second anniversary of Senator Jide Ipinsagba's tenure, his media team released a series of misleading achievements, including claims to have donated two transformers to Ogbagi Akoko my own town in Akoko North West Constituency II. Yet, these transformers have yet to appear in the community, which raises questions about the veracity of such claims. This farce underscores the low standards to which our senator has stooped. Imagine lying about to have installed transformer in Ogbagi akoko, while nothing to show in Ogbagi today.

Ultimately, Senator Jide Ipinsagba—a billionaire without impacts—needs to be voted out. His focus appears to be solely on personal gain rather than the progress of our senatorial district. We need a leader who is committed to making a real difference, not someone who misrepresents their achievements with unfulfilled promises.

Senator Jide Ipinsagba is a total failure. We deserve better than this failure we're experiencing.
