Man United focus striker hunt on Watkins and Šeško

Manchester United have narrowed their striker shortlist to two names — Aston Villa's Ollie Watkins and RB Leipzig's Benjamin Šeško — as the club accelerates plans to reinforce its frontline.

With transfer talks now underway, both players have been sounded out as potential centrepieces in Rúben Amorim's rebuild at Old Trafford.

Though United initially stepped back from Šeško due to high costs, fresh discussions have reignited the possibility of a deal worth between £69 million and £78 million.

Ollie Watkins, by contrast, is seen as a more financially accessible option, with estimates of £40 million to £45 million for the England international, who scored 19 league goals last season.

Manager Rúben Amorim, who replaced Erik ten Hag last November, is keen on bringing in a striker who fits his tactical blueprint of mobility, pressing, and versatility.

The final decision will weigh Watkins’ proven Premier League experience against Šeško’s youth and long-term potential.
