Governor Ademola Adeleke break silences on Joining APC rumor

Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has refuted rumors about his potential defection from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). He emphasized that he continues to be a committed member and serves as the party's leader in the state.

In a post on X (formerly Twitter) this past Saturday, Governor Ademola Adeleke—who won the 2022 Osun governorship election against APC candidate Gboyega Oyetola—addressed ongoing rumors regarding his potential defection by clarifying his political position.

In recent hours, I have received numerous calls concerning rumors of a potential defection. I want to reassure the people of Osun State and all Nigerians that I am steadfast in my commitment as both a loyal member and leader of the People's Democratic Party in Osun State.

He stated, "I remain committed to providing good governance and achieving our 5-point agenda for the people of Osun. Please ignore the false reports and keep supporting our mission for a better Osun State."

Governor Adeleke has previously addressed defection rumors, as this is not the first occurrence. During a meeting with key stakeholders in May, he again emphasized his commitment to remaining with the PDP and dispelled any notions of joining the APC.

Governor Adeleke's reassurance comes after a private visit to President Tinubu at his Ikoyi residence in Lagos on June 3. He was accompanied by his brother, Adedeji Adeleke, and Afrobeats musician David Adeleke, also known as Davido.
