The Federal Government of Nigeria has announced plans to deploy 400 military personnel to The Gambia to support peace and security in the country, which has been experiencing instability.
According to the statement, since Nigeria’s independence, the country has made significant contributions to global peacekeeping, with over 100,000 troops deployed to more than 40 countries worldwide.
Reports highlight that Nigerian military commanders have played key roles in restoring peace across various regions in and outside Africa, enhancing the nation’s international image and earning recognition and honors globally.
The government also warned the soldiers to maintain high discipline and avoid misconduct to protect Nigeria’s reputation.
