Dimitri Payet Set for Trial in Brazil Over Shocking Allegations

French footballer Dimitri Payet is set to stand trial in Brazil after being indicted for psychological violence against his former mistress, Larissa Natalya Ferrari — in a case that has rocked the sports world.

Initially dismissed by Rio prosecutors, the case was reopened on appeal, with Brazil’s Domestic Violence Court now accepting the complaint.

Ferrari, a lawyer, alleges a disturbing pattern of abuse, including being coerced into humiliating acts such as drinking urine, licking the floor, and other “bizarre” activities during their reported seven-month affair.

She claims Payet, 38, exploited her mental health struggles, using her vulnerability for sexual domination:

“He demanded proof of love from me — which consisted of humiliation.”

Payet, whose contract with Vasco da Gama was terminated just 10 days ago, acknowledges the relationship, but insists all acts were consensual and mutually initiated — even admitting to some of the more controversial events during his statement to Brazilian authorities.

Ferrari’s legal team welcomed the decision to proceed to trial, calling it:

“A critical step forward in the pursuit of justice, regardless of fame or public status.”

Meanwhile, Payet’s defense argues that the leaked case files show a consensual relationship, and they remain confident the court will “deconstruct the accusations” once all evidence is presented.

This case shines a harsh spotlight on power dynamics, mental health, and consent — raising deep questions far beyond the football pitch.
