CAF Unveils Record $10.4 Million Prize Pool for CHAN 2024


The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has just made history, announcing a record-breaking $10.4 million prize fund for the upcoming 2024 African Nations Championship (CHAN) — the richest in the tournament’s history.

🏆 Winner’s Prize: $3.5 million
🥈 Runner-up: $1.2 million
🥉 3rd Place: $700,000
4️⃣ 4th Place: $600,000
🔸 Quarter-finalists: $450,000 each
🔹 Group-stage teams: Up to $300,000 depending on finish

This 75% increase from the previous edition highlights CAF’s bold move to elevate local talent and attract global attention to African football. CAF President Dr. Patrice Motsepe stated:

“This increase in prize money will support the development of locally based players and help strengthen the global competitiveness of African football.”

📍 The 2024 CHAN — jointly hosted by Kenya, Tanzania, and Uganda — will run from August 2 to 30, 2025, featuring 19 teams including defending champions Senegal, Morocco, DR Congo, Nigeria, and Algeria.

This edition marks not only a financial milestone but also a strategic step towards making African football more appealing to fans, sponsors, and global broadcasters. 🌐
