Atiku Abubakar, the former Vice President and a prominent member of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) coalition, has suggested he may run for presidency in 2027.
Atiku promised to hold anyone involved in corruption accountable if he is elected president.
He revealed this while speaking to a group of people in Hausa.
In a video on X, Atiku affirmed: "I swear to God, if elected, we will declare war against anyone who steals or engages in corruption-related activities. Such individuals must be punished."
Atiku, who was unsuccessful in the 2023 presidential election as a candidate for the Peoples Democratic Party, is thought to have joined forces with his newly established coalition and aligned himself with the ADC.
Although Atiku has not yet formally announced his switch from the PDP to the ADC, he has been a significant figure in the opposition coalition.
A few days ago, the coalition revealed its Interim National Chairman, David Mark, and Interim National Secretary, Rauf Aregbesola, along with other key officers.
