Rauf Aregbesola, the National Secretary of the newly established African Democratic Congress (ADC), has encouraged its supporters to refrain from insulting or attacking those who back the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
On Friday in Lagos, Aregbesola issued the call following the launch of the ADC. The initiative seeks to challenge and potentially unseat President Bola Tinubu's administration. Notably, Aregbesola previously served under Tinubu as a commissioner for works and infrastructure in Lagos State.
On Friday, the former Ogun State Governor expressed gratitude through his social media platforms to the supporters who welcomed him at Lagos airport.
Aregbesola urged them to refrain from engaging in fights, attacks, or insults and emphasized the magnitude of the task ahead.
The former Interior Minister advised that when confronted by ruling party supporters, they should respond with factual information about the country's condition.
I am truly grateful to our supporters and members of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) who welcomed me upon my arrival in Lagos. We have a significant task ahead, and I emphasized that there is no need for conflict, insults, or attacks against others.
"When others resort to abuse or name-calling, we should maintain our composure and choose a higher path. Pose this straightforward question: Are Nigerians in a better situation now than they were before? Encourage them to consider the facts—food inflation, economic challenges, increasing living costs, and the worsening poverty impacting millions."
