Dr. Peter Mbah, the Governor of Enugu State, fully supports the stance taken by the National Working Committee (NWC), Board of Trustees, and South East Zonal Executive Committee (ZEC) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) regarding the ongoing crisis within the party.
Mbah also voiced his support for the National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting of the party set for Monday, June 30th, 2025. Although he remains a member of the PDP, he stated that he's "simply fed up with the shenanigans that have turned the party into an endless circus."
After a closed-door meeting at the Government House in Enugu with Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State, Senator Adolphus Wabara (Chairman of the PDP Board of Trustees), Chief Ali Odefa (South East Zonal Chairman of the party), and others on Sunday, the governor communicated his stance to reporters. He reiterated that it was crucial for the PDP's South East Zone Executive Committee's position—to reconsider its future with the party if their demands regarding the National Secretary were not met—remained firm.
To clarify, as I mentioned during my interactive session with the Fellows and Members of the Nigerian Guild of Editors in Enugu over the weekend: even though I'm still a PDP member, both myself and others from the South East have every right to reconsider our involvement with the party if it fails to address its internal issues.
That was consistently the stance taken in our most recent South East Zonal meeting held in Enugu. The caucus pointed out during this gathering that the party should respect the zone's position on the matter of the National Secretary role.
For all practical purposes, this clearly hasn't been the case. Therefore, there's no uncertainty about my position on the matter.
"The stance of the South East regarding the National Secretaryship of the party, as outlined in that communique, is unwavering," he stated.
Other prominent PDP members present at the meeting included Dr. Okwesilieze Nwodo, a former National Chairman and BOT member; Senator Sam Egwu; Iyom Josephine Anenih; Senator Ben Obi; and Hon. Udeh-Okoye, among others.
