Various unions in Ekiti State have begun mobilizing their members ahead of the nationwide rally against insecurity as directed by the Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC) national headquarters.
Some unions have issued press releases and memos to prepare their members for the rally scheduled for December 17, 2025.
This development may lead to a shutdown of economic activities as workers may stay away from work to participate in the rally.
Speaking with journalists, chairmen of unions affiliated with the NLC confirmed they have been contacted by their national bodies to mobilize and join the rally.
According to them, the rally will proceed unless the NLC national body directs otherwise.
They explained that Nigeria's security situation is a concern, as people can no longer feel safe.
They appealed to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to take decisive action to address insecurity, citing its impact on the nation's economic and social well-being.
