Peter Obi: Coalition: Peter Obi's Followership On Twitter Is About 5.2 Million — Peter Ameh

According to a video uploaded by Arise News on YouTube, Peter Ameh, a Labour Party chieftain and close ally of Peter Obi, shared his views on Obi’s prospects as the presidential candidate of the ADC coalition ahead of the 2027 election.

Ameh emphasized Obi’s significant influence, noting, "Peter Obi's followership alone on Twitter is about 5.2 million".

This substantial social media presence is a key indicator of Obi’s enduring popularity, especially among Nigeria’s youth and tech-savvy electorate.

Ameh addressed ongoing factional disputes within the Labour Party, clarifying that Obi remains a member despite rumors of resignation.

He also dismissed claims that Obi’s involvement in the coalition was unauthorized, explaining that the party has "permitted Obi to engage in the coalition talks".

The coalition, which includes the African Democratic Congress (ADC) and other parties, aims to present a united front against the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2027 elections.

Ameh stressed that this alliance is strategic and necessary, stating, "Principal leaders from different political platforms have decided to form a formidable political structure that will be able to defeat the APC come 2027".

He highlighted that the coalition’s focus extends beyond merely unseating the APC, emphasizing governance and reform as core objectives.

Reflecting on Obi’s electoral performance in 2023, Ameh pointed out that Obi secured over six million votes and led in the South with 44.5% compared to Tinubu’s 35.5%.

Regarding the coalition’s candidate selection process, Ameh acknowledged that while Obi is a strong contender, the coalition will decide through primaries or consensus.

Ameh also spoke about the importance of maintaining Nigeria’s delicate regional balance, referencing an "unwritten understanding" to sustain unity between the South and North.
