Anambra CP Orders Clampdown on Cult Groups, Unlawful Gatherings Ahead of Alleged Initiation Plots

The Commissioner of Police in Anambra State, CP Ikioye Orutugu, has directed immediate enforcement actions against unlawful gatherings and suspected cult groups across the state. This comes after credible intelligence revealed plans by the Neo-Black Movement of Africa to carry out cult initiation ceremonies on Monday, July 7, 2025.

To prevent any breach of peace, the Police Command has mobilized the Schools Protection Squad to comb school environments, lounges, motor parks, and studio apartments. CP Orutugu also warned hotel and lounge operators against hosting suspicious gatherings linked to cult-related activities, urging them to report any unusual bookings or movements.

The command assured residents that discreet surveillance and overt patrols will remain active across identified hotspots. Citizens have been encouraged to report suspicious behavior via dedicated hotlines to assist security efforts aimed at preserving law and order.
