Fifty-eight inmates across various custodial centres in Kano State are currently participating in the 2025 NECO Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE). This was disclosed by the Nigerian Correctional Service (NCoS), Kano Command, as part of its ongoing educational rehabilitation programme.
According to the Command’s spokesperson, Musbahu Lawan Kofar-Nasarawa, the Kano State Government under Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf fully sponsored the registration of the inmates. He emphasized that this initiative demonstrates the administration's commitment to inmate reform and reintegration.
The NCoS commended the state government’s support and reiterated its dedication to creating a conducive environment for rehabilitation through education. It noted that such efforts not only boost the morale of inmates but also prepare them for productive reintegration into society after serving their terms.
