A group of employees from the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) is currently protesting outside the FCTA headquarters in Area 11, Abuja.
The group, operating under the Joint Union Action Committee's guidance, is visible holding placards with messages like "non-payment of AEPB enforcement squad," "inaccessibility of the salary portal to salary desk officers," and "withheld salaries and allowances for workers exceeding six months," among others.
In an interview with Channels Television, the union's President, Mrs. Rifkatu Iortyer, stated that they have undertaken various actions since 2023, such as writing letters to FCT Minister Nyesom Wike seeking intervention; however, these efforts have been unsuccessful.
She also gave the FCT administration a 3-day deadline to meet their demands, warning that they would otherwise take alternative actions.
Their demands include initiating training and retraining programs for FCTA workers, paying the five-month wage award, settling allowances and salaries of FCT teachers, halting deductions for national housing funds immediately, starting staff promotions due in 2023, 2024, and 2025 without delay.
