The Managing Director of the Benin-Owena River Basin Development Authority (BORBDA), Dr. Femi Adekanmbi, has urged Muslim faithful to renew their faith and commitment to humanity as they commemorate the Mawlid Al-Nabi, which marks the birth of Prophet Muhammad.
Adekanmbi made the call in a goodwill message while felicitating with Muslims on the occasion, describing the celebration as an opportunity for the faithful to reflect on the exemplary life, teachings and enduring legacy of the Holy Prophet.
He said the occasion should go beyond festivities, urging Muslims to draw inspiration from the Prophet's virtues of compassion, patience, humility, justice, peaceful coexistence and love for humanity.
According to him, the teachings and life of Prophet Muhammad offer timeless lessons on peaceful coexistence and service to humanity, which, if embraced by all, would contribute significantly to peace and development in society.
Adekanmbi called on Muslims to use the occasion to strengthen their relationship with Allah, extend kindness to the less privileged and promote unity, tolerance and understanding among Nigerians, irrespective of religious or ethnic differences.
He stressed that Nigeria needed greater commitment to the values of peace, brotherhood and mutual respect, noting that the collective responsibility of citizens remained critical to building a more united, peaceful and prosperous nation.
The BORBDA helmsman also urged Muslim faithful to continue to pray for the peace, stability and prosperity of Nigeria, as well as for leaders at all levels of government.
He congratulated Muslims across the country on the celebration and prayed that the occasion would bring renewed faith, peace, blessings and greater hope to the faithful, their families and the nation at large.
