Nana Kwabena Okyere, a traditional leader in Ayanfuri, Ghana, died on Friday, May 9, 2026, after an accidental self-inflicted gunshot wound during a funeral ceremony. While some social media posts have linked the incident to testing a bulletproof charm known as 'Odeshi', local reports state the death occurred when a pump-action gun he was handling for customary funeral rites accidentally discharged into his abdomen.
The incident took place in Ayanfuri, Central Region, It occurred during the funeral of Abusua Panyin Akwasi Kwateng.
Nana Kwabena Okyere was the Mmratehene (youth leader) of the Ayanfuri Traditional Area. He was rushed to the Ayanfuri Pentecost Hospital but passed away during treatment.
