Faustin Abega, a Cameroonian teacher who caused a stir online with remarks regarding the √@pe and m4rder of an 11-year-old girl, has been fired with immediate effect.
According to reports, Mbarga Divine, the minor, was born and raised in Cameroon by a married father of three.
The victim's classmate's father is allegedly the suspect.
Faustin's comment, which was widely condemned on Cameroonian social media, was seen by many as trivializing the tragic d3ath of the minor, sparking the controversy.
Faustin wrote, "Get out, what was she first of all looking for at their house?" in response to the tragic event. The man relished the chance.
His remarks intensified public anger, with many calling for accountability and sanction.
His employer announced the decision in an official letter, citing gross misconduct and stating that his public remarks were incompatible with the ethical standards expected of an educator.
The school emphasised that a teacher is required to demonstrate exemplary behaviour, both in and out of the classroom, and that his statements undermined the institution’s values.
Following the backlash, Faustin claimed his Facebook account had been hacked and denied responsibility for the post.
However, the school indicated that this explanation did not sufficiently address the seriousness of the situation.
Beyond the dismissal, the administration has reassured parents that measures are being taken to ensure the safety and moral protection of students.
There are also indications that further internal checks could be carried out to examine the matter more closely.
