Edo State PDP Chairman Dr. Tony Aziegbemi has declared that state chairmen of the party will resist any attempt by FCT Minister Nyesom Wike to unilaterally determine the membership of the party's National Working Committee.
Speaking in a media coverage by Symfoni TV, Aziegbemi said, "We believe one man cannot sit in his bedroom and write the names of members of the National Working Committee of the party. There is a reason why it is called the People's Democratic Party. You must have consultation. More people must be at that table when you are sharing those positions. And here we have just one person or at most two people giving us a list of members of the National Working Committee of our great party. We won't allow that to happen," he said.
Aziegbemi also questioned the legitimacy of a convention being proposed by the Wike faction, demanding to know when and where such a decision was collectively made.
He argued that the state chairmen had not agreed to any convention and would not be participating in one they had no hand in planning.
