As the August 8, 2026 governorship election approaches in Osun State, political discussions have become more intense across towns and communities. Markets, workplaces, and even family gatherings are now arenas where the future of the state is being debated. For me and many other voters, the decision about who should govern the state for the next four years should not be based on political propaganda or party slogans, but on performance and empathy in leadership. It is from this standpoint that I believe Governor Ademola Adeleke deserves another term in office.
A Government That Prioritises Workers
One of the strongest reasons many people like me believe Adeleke should be re-elected is his government’s attention to the welfare of workers.
Recently, the state government presented ₦672,987,699.94 in insurance benefits to the families of workers who died while serving the state. The payments were made under the Group Life Assurance Scheme and the Personal Accident Insurance Scheme, benefiting families of 151 deceased workers.
For the families involved, the gesture goes beyond financial compensation. It is recognition that the state values the service and sacrifices of its workers. In a country where many public servants often feel neglected, such actions help restore confidence in government.
Restoring Compassion In Governance Governance
is not only about constructing roads and buildings; it is also about compassion and responsibility toward citizens.
The decision to reintroduce the workers’ insurance scheme, which had reportedly stalled under the administration of former governor Adegboyega Oyetola, shows a willingness to rebuild social protection systems that directly affect ordinary people.
For many residents of Osun, this approach represents a shift toward governance that is more humane and people-centred.

Another reason voters may consider renewing Adeleke’s mandate is the attention being given to key sectors such as healthcare and infrastructure.
The state’s recent recognition in the Primary Health Care Leadership Challenge for the South-West indicates that efforts are being made to strengthen the healthcare system, particularly at the grassroots level where most citizens depend on public health facilities.
Although challenges remain, many residents believe that the state is moving in the right direction.

In my view, Governor Adeleke has demonstrated enough commitment to workers’ welfare, social protection, and public service improvement to justify another term.
Ultimately, the decision rests with the people of Osun State. But as voters prepare to go to the polls in August 2026, many of us believe that continuity in leadership may be the best path toward sustaining the gains already recorded.
For that reason, I will vote for Adeleke again.
