Pastor Paul Enenche, the founder and senior pastor of Dunamis International Gospel Centre, has explained why some Christians give tithes and offerings yet fail to experience tangible changes in their lives, stressing that financial faithfulness must be accompanied by diligence and hard work.
Speaking during a recent sermon shared via YouTube, Pastor Enenche addressed a common concern among believers who question why they faithfully give in church but still struggle financially.
According to him, one major reason the subject of diligence and productivity is taught in church is because it is rooted in Scripture. He said many believers focus only on giving but neglect the biblical principle of industriousness.
“For many reasons we teach this,” he said. “Number one, it is in the Bible. Number two, most of us in church know only half of the truth. We say, ‘I have paid my tithe and offering, but nothing has changed.’ It cannot change with laziness. It cannot change with sitting down and doing nothing.”
The pastor stressed that God’s blessings are often connected to the work of one’s hands, explaining that spiritual practices alone cannot replace diligence, productivity, and enterprise.
To illustrate his point, Enenche referenced the life of Job in the Book of Job. He noted that although Job was known for his righteousness and devotion to God, he was also deeply involved in productive ventures.
According to the biblical account in Job 1, the patriarch possessed extensive wealth and resources, including thousands of livestock and a large workforce. Enenche interpreted these assets in modern terms as equivalent to large-scale businesses, farms, and transportation systems.
“Job had 7,000 sheep, 3,000 camels, 500 yoke of oxen and many servants,” he explained. “That is like having fleets of vehicles, trucks, tractors, and a massive workforce today.”
