There is fresh tension as security analyst, Dr. Majeed Dahiru, has called on the EFCC and ICPC to investigate a mysterious 100 million naira payment. The money was allegedly deposited into the bank account of the son of the former Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun.
Speaking on Channels Television, Dahiru expressed shock at how such a huge amount could enter a private account. He noted that since the former police boss is no longer in office, the truth must come out to clear the air.
Many Nigerians are currently reacting with surprise, wondering how "mistakes" involving millions keep happening in government circles. Dahiru insisted that both the Anambra State Government and the former IGP need to explain their roles in the transaction.
"I would expect the EFCC and the ICPC to thoroughly investigate... to find out how such a mistake could have happened," Dahiru stated during the interview.
While the presidency has not linked this money issue to Egbetokun’s recent exit, the analyst believes transparency is the only way to build public trust. For now, Nigerians are waiting to see if the anti-graft agencies will pick up the case.
