Former Presidential Media Aide Umar Sani has reacted to reports alleging that the wife of the Chief Judge of the Federal High Court of Nigeria, John Tsoho, was caught with a large sum of foreign currency in Benue State, raising questions about the source of the funds.
Sani made the comments during an interview on SYMFONI TV, where he weighed in on the controversy reportedly linked to the discovery of $160,000 in cash. The development has sparked discussions on social media and within political circles about accountability and transparency among public officials and members of the judiciary.
During the interview, Sani questioned how such a large amount of money could be accumulated, particularly when compared with the official earnings of judicial officers in Nigeria. He suggested that the value of the money becomes even more striking when converted to the local currency at current exchange rates.
“Now, how will Justice Tsoho in his lifetime be able to get $160,000? When you juxtaposed it with current exchange rate, it's over N180 million and how much is his salary,” Sani said.
The former presidential aide argued that incidents like this, if confirmed, could further fuel public concerns about integrity and ethical standards within the judiciary. According to him, the judiciary plays a critical role in Nigeria’s democratic system and must remain above suspicion to maintain public confidence.
