Troops of the COAS Intervention Battalion XI under Operation WHIRL STROKE have arrested three suspected terrorists and recovered arms and other items during a clearance operation in the Agasha general area on March 26, 2026.
The suspects—Mr. Sule Ibrahim and Mr. Salmanu Risko, both from Nasarawa State, and Mr. Abdulkareem Haruna from Jos—were apprehended after troops acted on credible intelligence about the presence of criminal elements in the area. The troops advanced tactically, cordoned off the location, and carried out a swift operation leading to the arrests.
Items recovered from the suspects include one AK-47 rifle, two AK-47 magazines, 27 rounds of 7.62mm x 39 ammunition, a Tecno mobile phone, a cutlass, ten sachets of alcohol, and assorted charms.
According to a statement issued by Lieutenant Ahmad Zubairu Zubairu, Acting Media Information Officer, Headquarters Joint Task Force Operation WHIRL STROKE, the suspects are currently in military custody undergoing preliminary investigation and will be handed over for prosecution.
The statement added that troops have sustained an aggressive operational posture across the area, maintaining dominance to deny criminal elements freedom of action and to ensure security ahead of the farming season.
Meanwhile, the Force Commander, Joint Task Force Operation WHIRL STROKE, Major General Moses Gara, commended the troops for their professionalism, resilience, and commitment to protecting law-abiding citizens within the Joint Operations Area.
