Suspected armed robber has been arrested by Amotekun in Osun

The Osun Amotekun Corps has successfully arrested a 25-year-old individual named Rilwan Raifu, who is linked to an alleged armed robbery in the Ororuwo community, located in the Boripe Local Government Area of Osun State.

Raifu, originally from Osogbo but living in Lagos, was taken into custody after a quick response from the operatives of the Boripe Command of the Corps.

This operation was initiated by a distress call from alert residents who informed security officials about the presence of suspected armed robbers in the vicinity.

Acting swiftly on the information received, Amotekun personnel arrived at the scene and apprehended Raifu immediately.

However, other gang members reportedly fled and are currently unaccounted for, with ongoing efforts to locate and capture them.

Initial investigations indicated that Raifu allegedly admitted to his involvement in the crime, stating it was his first experience with robbery.

He mentioned that an accomplice known only as "Small," who is still at large, encouraged him to participate in the crime and helped him travel from Lagos to Ororuwo for the operation.

Raifu expressed remorse for his actions and urged young individuals to steer clear of negative influences and criminal affiliations that could endanger their futures.

Items seized from the suspect, as reported by the Public Relations Officer, Yusuf Idowu Abass, include a short Dane gun, a stick, and a mask.

The Corps Commander of the Osun Amotekun Corps, Dr. Adekunle Isaac Omoyele, confirmed the incident and praised the Ororuwo residents for their prompt and proactive communication, which greatly contributed to the operation's success.

He stressed the importance of community collaboration in fighting crime and ensuring public safety.

The Commander also commended the efficiency and professionalism of the Amotekun officers involved in the arrest, reaffirming the Corps' dedication to maintaining peace and security throughout the state.

He assured the public that efforts are being intensified to capture the remaining suspects associated with the robbery.

Additionally, he reiterated that once investigations are completed, the detained suspect will face charges in court and be prosecuted according to the law.

Residents of Osun State are once again urged to stay alert and continue supporting security agencies by providing timely and reliable information that can help prevent criminal activities.
