The Sokoto State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has announced it will not participate in the national convention being organised in Abuja by a faction aligned with Nyesom Wike.
The state chapter stated that its decision is in line with its position of remaining neutral amid the ongoing leadership crisis within the opposition party.
Speaking in a telephone interview, the state Publicity Secretary, Hassan Sanyinawal, emphasized that the Sokoto PDP does not recognise any faction and would therefore stay away from the convention.
🗣️ “We are not attending the convention in Abuja, just as we refused to attend the Ibadan convention.”
The development highlights deepening divisions within the PDP as internal disputes continue to shape the party’s direction ahead of future political contests.
💬 A clear signal of unresolved tensions within Nigeria’s main opposition party.
