Vanguard reports that former Senate President Bukola Saraki has clarified that President Bola Tinubu was not involved in the challenges he encountered during former President Muhammadu Buhari's administration, emphasizing that Tinubu was not part of the alleged persecution.
He also rejected ongoing rumors that he is affiliated with the current government or secretly collaborating with the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
Saraki asserted that these allegations are baseless and do not represent his political views or actions.
Addressing the rumors directly, he affirmed that he has not had any private or secret meetings with President Tinubu since he took office.
He explained that his political approach has always been open and direct, leaving no space for hidden partnerships or clandestine dealings.
He stated that if he were to support or work with the president, he would do so transparently and clearly.
Saraki emphasized his commitment to a straightforward and honest public persona, asserting that he does not engage in covert activities or secret political dealings.
He reaffirmed that his actions and choices are always made publicly, enabling the public to hold him accountable.
He wrapped up by reiterating his dedication to transparency and integrity in politics, expressing his preference for openly declaring his intentions instead of participating in discreet discussions or behind-the-scenes agreements.
I’m not somebody that says things that I’m not going to do. Have you heard me since the president has been in power for how many years, nobody can tell you I’ve sat down to meet the president,” he said.
"I don't go there at night because I'm not a night person. When I decide to do something, I step out confidently and declare that I'm going to do it," Saraki said.
