Prince Ademola Benson Ogunoye (PAB), a frontline aspirant seeking to represent Owo Constituency 1 in the Ondo State House of Assembly, has commended the Ondo State Government for its decisive measures aimed at curbing the rising cases of kidnapping in the state.
Reacting to the recent directive restricting commercial motorcycle operators, popularly known as Okada, from operating between 7:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m., Prince Ogunoye described the move as a bold and necessary step toward restoring security and public confidence across communities in the state.
According to him, intelligence reports and security observations have indicated that criminal elements often exploit the operations of some motorcycle riders to perpetrate kidnappings and other criminal activities, particularly under the cover of darkness.
Prince Ogunoye noted that the government’s action demonstrates a clear commitment to safeguarding the lives and property of residents, stressing that proactive policies are required to dismantle the networks through which kidnappers operate.
While lauding the initiative, he also called on communities, market associations, town unions, and business owners to complement government efforts by embracing modern security technologies, particularly the installation of Closed-Circuit Television (CCTV) cameras in strategic locations.
He emphasized that surveillance technology has become a vital tool in crime prevention and investigation across the world.
“Hidden cameras and CCTV surveillance systems have become the vogue in modern security architecture.
Their presence alone acts as a deterrent, while recorded footage provides critical evidence that helps security agencies identify, track, and apprehend criminal elements,” he said.
Prince Ogunoye urged communities to deploy CCTV cameras in markets, town halls, public squares, major streets, and entry points into towns and villages. According to him, a coordinated network of surveillance systems would significantly strengthen intelligence gathering and make it more difficult for criminal groups to operate unnoticed.
He further stressed that the fight against kidnapping and violent crimes requires a collective effort between government, security agencies, and the people.
“The security of our communities cannot be left to government alone. Citizens must actively participate by embracing modern security measures and remaining vigilant,” he added.
Prince Ogunoye reaffirmed his commitment to promoting technology-driven security solutions and community-based safety initiatives, noting that a secure environment is fundamental to economic growth, social stability, and sustainable development in Ondo State.
He expressed optimism that with continued cooperation between the government and the people, Ondo State will overcome the current security challenges and remain one of the most peaceful and progressive states in Nigeria.
