Members of the reconciliation committee drawn from the camps of the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governors are expected to meet on Monday as efforts intensify to resolve the lingering crisis within the party.
According to a high-ranking PDP leader who spoke on condition of anonymity to Sunday PUNCH, the joint reconciliation panel will work toward harmonising key conditions aimed at restoring unity within the party.
The development was also confirmed by representatives of the governors’ camp, the Tanimu Turaki-led National Working Committee, and the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Ini Ememobong, all of whom indicated that the meeting would focus on addressing the issues fueling the internal dispute.
Meanwhile, the National Secretary of the Wike-backed National Caretaker Committee, Senator Samuel Anyanwu, expressed optimism about the outcome of the reconciliation process. Speaking in an interview with Sunday PUNCH, Anyanwu said he believes the PDP will soon overcome its internal challenges and emerge stronger.
The planned meeting is seen as a crucial step toward restoring stability in the party as it seeks to rebuild unity ahead of future political contests.
