Human rights activist and former presidential candidate, Omoyele Sowore, on Thursday led a protest in Aba, calling for the release of Nnamdi Kanu.
The protest attracted supporters and activists who marched through parts of the commercial city carrying placards and chanting solidarity songs demanding Kanu’s freedom. Demonstrators said the rally was organized to draw national and international attention to the continued detention of the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB).
Participants stated that their movement remains peaceful while urging the Federal Government to address the situation and ensure justice in the matter.
Security operatives were later deployed to maintain order as the protest progressed.
