Operatives of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in Kwara State have arrested two suspected bandits during an intelligence-led operation in Saminaka Community.
The suspects, Abubakar Jubril (28) and Mohammed Abubakar (26), were apprehended on Tuesday, March 3, 2026, following sustained surveillance by operatives of the command.
According to the NSCDC, the suspects were among three suspicious individuals sighted in a volatile area of the community. While two of them were successfully arrested during the operation, the third suspect managed to escape and is currently at large. Security operatives have launched efforts to track down and apprehend the fleeing suspect.
Items recovered from the suspects include a pistol with serial number 7835 (made in the United States), a mobile phone, as well as suspected hard drugs identified as Tramadol and cigarettes.
While parading the suspects on Friday, the Kwara State Commandant of the NSCDC, Bala Bawa Bodinga, reaffirmed the command’s commitment to intensifying operations aimed at combating criminal activities and protecting lives and property across the state.
Commandant Bodinga warned individuals involved in criminal activities to desist or be ready to face the full weight of the law, stressing that the command would continue to pursue offenders until they are brought to justice.
He also called on members of the public to remain vigilant and provide credible information that could assist security agencies in tackling crime and maintaining peace in communities across the state.
According to the command, the suspects will be charged to court upon the completion of investigations or may be transferred to the appropriate security agency for further investigation.
