Gbolahan Olaniyi, a kidnap victim, has stated that he was abducted by bandits from the farm where he worked as a farm manager
In an interview with News Central TV, Olaniyi said the bandits demanded 100 million naira ransom for his release. He said they gave him a phone and he called his boss to inform her that he had been kidnapped. He said his boss told him not to worry and promised to send police, soldiers, and drones to rescue him.
Olaniyi said the phone was on loudspeaker, and the bandit leader heard the conversation. He said the bandit leader immediately pointed a gun at him and threatened to kill him if any security agency tried to rescue him.
In Olaniyi’s words: “I put a call through and told my madam that I have been kidnapped by these bandits. The woman said I should not worry and she is going to send police, army and drones and the phone was on loud speaker. The bandits boss heard that and he pointed a gun to my head and said I should stop that, that he doesn’t want any armed forces and all he needs is money”
