President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved the deployment of 31 career and 34 non-career ambassadors to Nigerian missions around the world after the Senate confirmed the nominees in December 2025.
Among the newly assigned envoys are media personality Reno Omokri, former lawmaker Abasi Ogwime Braimah, and veteran diplomat Aminu Muhammad Dalhatu, who have been posted to Mexico, Hungary and the United Kingdom respectively.
Each of the three represents a different pathway into diplomacy, media influence, legislative experience, and career foreign service.
Reno Omokri
Posting: Mexico City, Mexico
Reno Omokri is widely known as a political communicator, author and public affairs commentator who has spent years shaping narratives around Nigerian politics and governance.
He previously served as special assistant to former President Goodluck Jonathan, working in the administration’s media and public affairs team. Over time, Omokri built a large following through commentary on governance, faith, and economic issues.
His appointment as Nigeria’s envoy to Mexico places him at the centre of a diplomatic mission that could deepen relations between Africa’s largest economy and Latin America’s second-largest economy.
Nigeria and Mexico share growing interests in energy cooperation, trade and South-South diplomatic collaboration, making the posting strategically significant.
Abasi Braimah
Posting: Budapest, Hungary
Abasi Ogwime Braimah brings a combination of engineering and legislative experience to Nigeria’s diplomatic corps.

Born on 29 September 1969, Braimah studied chemical engineering before entering politics, later earning a Master’s degree in Business Administration.
He served as a member of Nigeria’s House of Representatives from 2007 to 2011, representing the Etsako federal constituency in Edo State during the 6th National Assembly.
During his time in parliament, Braimah participated in national economic and legislative debates while serving on key committees.
His deployment to Hungary positions him to help strengthen Nigeria’s ties with Central Europe, particularly in areas such as education exchange, technology cooperation and investment partnerships.
Aminu Dalhatu
Posting: United Kingdom (High Commissioner)
Unlike many non-career envoys, Aminu Muhammad Dalhatu comes from within the diplomatic system itself.
Dalhatu previously served as Nigeria’s Ambassador to South Korea, where he led the Nigerian embassy in Seoul from around 2017 to 2023 during the administration of former President Muhammadu Buhari.
In that role, he oversaw diplomatic relations, trade promotion and cultural exchanges between Nigeria and South Korea, helping strengthen cooperation in technology, investment and education.
His new assignment as Nigeria’s High Commissioner to the United Kingdom places him in one of Nigeria’s most strategic diplomatic missions, responsible for managing political relations, trade engagement and consular services for one of the largest Nigerian diaspora communities abroad.
The Nigerian Ministry of Foreign Affairs has already secured diplomatic approval, known as agrément, from the UK government for his posting.
Nigeria maintains diplomatic missions in more than 100 countries worldwide. The new postings are expected to strengthen Nigeria’s global presence and support the country’s foreign policy objectives across trade, security and international cooperation.
