Lawmaker’s Phone Stolen at High-Profile Event in Umuahia

There was mild drama in Umuahia on Thursday after a mobile phone belonging to a member of the House of Representatives, Amobi Ogah, was stolen during a public event.

The incident happened at the International Conference Centre during a state burial organized in honour of late evangelist Uma Ukpai.

According to reports, the suspect took advantage of the crowded environment and tight movement of guests to carry out the act unnoticed. A video circulating online shows the lawmaker greeting people when the thief quietly took the phone and disappeared into the crowd.

Despite the presence of security at the venue, the suspect reportedly blended in easily before escaping.

Following the incident, Amobi Ogah has called on members of the public to help with useful information that can lead to the arrest of the culprit. He also announced a reward of ₦500,000 for anyone who provides credible information.
