Workers in Nigeria are calling for a big increase in their salaries as the cost of living keeps rising.
The Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC) is asking for a new minimum wage of N154,000. They say the current pay is no longer enough for workers to survive.
This demand was made through the Joint National Public Service Negotiating Council, a group under the NLC. The council explained that things like food, transport, and other daily needs have become too expensive.
According to the labour body, many workers can no longer meet basic needs because prices keep going up. They believe increasing the minimum wage will help Nigerians live better lives.
The group has also called on the Federal Government to start talks immediately to review workers’ salaries.
The demand comes as many families across the country continue to struggle with the rising cost of living.
