Veteran Nollywood actress, Joke Silva, has shared her thoughts on the benefits of marrying an older man.
The 64-year-old actress spoke during a recent appearance on the TVC talk show Your View, where she opened up about her marriage and love story.
Joke Silva is married to Nollywood legend Olu Jacobs, who is about 20 years older than her. The couple tied the knot in 1985 and have remained one of the most respected marriages in the Nigerian movie industry.
Speaking about their relationship, the actress revealed that it was not love at first sight for her, although it was for her husband.
She explained that they first met on stage and later reconnected on a movie set. According to her, everyone on set was excited about the arrival of the famous Olu Jacobs except her.
She said they got along very well, and it was only after they started dating that she realized his real age because he looked so young and good.
“For him, it was love at first sight, but for me, it wasn’t,” she said with a smile.
Joke Silva added that one advantage of marrying an older man is that they often allow their partners to “get away with a lot of things,” suggesting that maturity and understanding play a big role in such relationships.
Olu Jacobs was 44 years old when they got married, while Joke Silva was 24 at the time.
Their union is blessed with two children and has lasted for decades, becoming a strong example of love and commitment in Nollywood.
