These are the same radical actors who plagued U.S. forces after the 2003 invasion. Back then, America toppled Saddam and tried to build something better. Now the same proxies, armed and funded by Tehran, are swarming to hit our bases, embassies, and interests in Iraq. They've already launched hundreds of drone and rocket attacks. The U.S. military is striking back with Apaches to suppress the threats, but the militias keep coming.
At the same time, Russia is publicly hoping the U.S. skips any ground operation on Iran's Kharg Island. That tiny spit of land in the Persian Gulf handles 90 percent of Iran's oil exports. Iran has been choking the Strait of Hormuz, driving up global energy prices and threatening the world economy. President Trump has already hammered military targets there but held off on the oil facilities out of restraint. Now he's weighing a bold move: seize the island to force the strait back open and starve the regime of cash.
This is no time for weakness. Iran and its proxies started this chaos.
