According to a report by Symfoni TV, on Monday, March 16, 2026, activist and former presidential candidate Omoyele Sowore made a striking comment on Nigeria’s current political climate.
Sowore was speaking about the political strategies of some leaders and their approach to rallies and public gatherings.
He stated, “They know if Tinubu is truly supported by 33 governors, why are they afraid of rallies?”
According to Sowore, the remark highlights the fear that some politicians have of opposition mobilisation, even when the ruling party claims widespread support across the country.
He suggested that these fears are not always based on reality but are sometimes psychological tactics used to intimidate opponents or discourage public participation.
He added that political influence in Nigeria is often misunderstood, as many leaders rely on fear to control narratives and prevent others from speaking out.
Sowore noted that rallies and public demonstrations are critical for political engagement, yet some powerful individuals act as if such gatherings pose a threat, despite claiming broad political backing.
