The Federal College of Agriculture, Akure has matriculated over 300 students into its academic community, with the Acting Provost, Dr. Rasheed Folorunsho, describing the occasion as a defining moment for both the institution and the newly admitted students.
Speaking at the 2025/2026 matriculation ceremony held on Tuesday, March 24, 2026, at the College’s International Training and Conference Centre, the Acting Provost congratulated the new students, noting that their admission reflects a strong determination to pursue a brighter future. He urged them to uphold the core values of discipline, integrity, and excellence throughout their academic journey.
Dr. Folorunsho, who presided over his first matriculation ceremony since assuming office, reaffirmed the management’s commitment to strengthening the institution through strategic reforms aimed at producing graduates who are both academically sound and morally upright. He emphasised that the College remains focused on enhancing the overall student experience while fulfilling its mandate of contributing meaningfully to agricultural development.
He highlighted several ongoing reforms targeted at improving student welfare, including enhanced communication between management and students, as well as the rehabilitation of hostels and academic facilities. According to him, these initiatives are designed to create a more conducive learning environment that supports both academic success and personal development. In the area of healthcare, the Acting Provost disclosed that the College has revitalised its health centre through the appointment of a medical consultant, the recruitment of additional healthcare personnel, and an improved supply of essential drugs. He assured students of the institution’s commitment to safeguarding their wellbeing through efficient and responsive medical services.
Addressing security, Dr. Folorunsho noted that proactive measures have been put in place to ensure the safety of students on campus, while also urging them to remain vigilant and security-conscious at all times. He further revealed that the College has benefited from the Federal Government’s student loan scheme, with ongoing efforts to resolve access challenges encountered by some students.
He concluded by advising the students to shun all forms of social vices, including cultism, examination malpractice, and drug abuse, and to remain focused on their studies and personal development.
The ceremony ended with the administration of the matriculation oath, formally admitting the students into the academic community of the College.
