Adeleke boasts Of “Delivered Promises” as Second term drumbeats begin In Osun

 

Governor Ademola Adeleke has sparked debate after openly suggesting that his first-term performance already qualifies him for a second term in office, even as political observers say the move signals the early start of re-election politics in Osun State.

Speaking on Wednesday at the Banquet Hall of the Government House while receiving members of the Ansar-ud-Deen Society of Nigeria, Osun State Council, Adeleke declared that his administration has fulfilled the promises made to voters during the 2022 election.

The governor insisted that his government’s development blueprint has not only been implemented but upgraded, presenting it as proof that he deserves another term.

His revised agenda now focuses on five key areas:

 • Welfare and empowerment programmes targeting youth, women and workers

 • Consolidation of infrastructure projects to boost economic and social life

 • Expansion of agro-industrial initiatives

 • Affordable healthcare and quality education access

 • A safer and more attractive environment for business and job creation

Adeleke argued that these priorities are an extension of the agenda his administration campaigned on in 2022.

“These priorities build on our original 2022 agenda, which we have faithfully implemented. I believe we have delivered on our electoral promises to the people of Osun,” the governor said.

However, critics say the governor’s remarks amount to self-assessment ahead of time, noting that voters—not the government—will ultimately judge whether those promises have truly been kept.

During the visit, members of the Ansar-ud-Deen Society, led by Council Secretary Pharmacist Akande Hafiz, praised the governor for infrastructure work in Iwo, particularly the dualisation of the Odo-Ori–Adeeke Road, which they said has improved economic activities in the area.

But the group also used the opportunity to press the governor for support in constructing a new mosque, explaining that their previous place of worship was demolished during road construction.

While Adeleke welcomed the delegation and acknowledged their concerns, he stopped short of making any immediate commitment to the request.
