Yakubu Datti has revealed that Nigeria’s National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu, demonstrated strong integrity decades ago by refusing a $20 million bribe allegedly offered by a governor from southern Nigeria.
According to Datti, the incident occurred about 30 years ago, when Ribadu was already known for his firm stance against corruption and unethical practices. He said Ribadu boldly rejected the offer, reinforcing his reputation as a principled and disciplined public servant.
Datti noted that Ribadu’s past actions reflect his longstanding commitment to transparency, accountability, and national service, qualities he said continue to define his leadership today.
Ribadu, who previously served as Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), gained national and international recognition for his anti-corruption efforts during his tenure.
