Lagos State has received a fresh shipment of $1.7 million worth of emergency medical supplies from the Government of Japan to strengthen its cholera preparedness and response capacity.
The development was disclosed in a statement issued on Friday by Tunbosun Ogunbanwo, Director of Public Affairs at the Lagos State Ministry of Health.
According to the statement, the intervention is part of efforts to prevent a recurrence of the devastating 2024 cholera outbreak, which affected several communities across the state and placed significant pressure on health facilities.
The newly delivered supplies are expected to enhance rapid response measures, improve treatment capacity, and bolster disease surveillance systems across Lagos.
Health authorities say the partnership reflects continued international collaboration in safeguarding public health and strengthening emergency response infrastructure in Nigeria’s commercial capital.
