Ekiti Ultra-Modern abattoir set to Create about 6,000 Jobs

The Ekiti State Government has announced that its ultra-modern abattoir project in Ado-Ekiti is expected to generate about 6,000 employment opportunities, boosting economic activities and improving livelihoods across the state.

The Project Coordinator of the Livestock Productivity and Resilience Support (L-PRES) Project, Mr. Olayinka Adedipe, disclosed that the facility will create approximately 2,000 direct jobs and an additional 4,000 indirect jobs through allied services and value-chain activities.

He spoke during a community sensitisation programme focused on promoting sustainable abattoir operations, improved meat quality, food safety, social inclusion, and gender considerations. According to him, the ultra-modern facility is designed to modernise meat processing, strengthen veterinary inspection, enhance hygiene standards, and ensure proper waste management.

The abattoir project forms part of the Ekiti State Government’s broader strategy to upgrade livestock infrastructure and stimulate growth within the agricultural sector, with support from development partners.

Stakeholders have expressed optimism that the project will improve working conditions, increase income opportunities, and strengthen the livestock and meat processing value chain in Ekiti State.
